Video Poker is a beloved game that is able to be gambled on in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at home on your computer, using an Internet connection. The regulations are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to get the highest combination of cards as you can in order to come away with money. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, without the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be useless here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors will need to now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has selected which cards she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards are dealt if desired. The round is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.
Typically, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that experienced bettors are able to select the most money-making ones each time.
After the first round has played out, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, several styles of the game allow the player a chance to increase their winnings, in which situation another round is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
