Electronic Poker is a popular game that usually will be gambled on in casinos all over the globe, or in your house on your computer, through an Internet account. The game rules are very simple and consist of the player trying to get the greatest combination of cards possible in order to acquire cash. On this account it is much the same as a regular game of poker, apart from the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A hand of five cards will then be electronically ‘dealt’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and bettors will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.
After the enthusiast has chosen which cards she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be dealt if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.
Normally, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful bettors are able to choose the most profitable game every time.
Once the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Further, a few versions of the game give the gambler a chance to increase their profits, in which situation a further hand is played. There are also variations among individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
