Video Poker is a popular game that can be wagered on in casinos all over the globe, or in your house on your PC, through a net connection. The rules are very simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the greatest assemblage of cards possible in order to win money. On this account it’s much the same as a regular game of poker, apart from the involvement with other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player inserts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A 5 card hand will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and bettors will need to now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.
After the gambler has chosen which cards he would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be handed out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Typically, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable gamblers are able to pick the most money-making ones each time.
Once the first round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game allow the bettor an opportunity to increase their wins, in which situation a further round is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
