Video Poker is a favored game that can be wagered on in casinos around the world, or in your house on your computer, using a web account. The regulations are very simple and involve the player attempting to get the best assemblage of cards achievable in order to acquire money. In this respect it is very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the line of contact with other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the play button. A 5 card hand will then be electronically ‘given out’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors should now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards he or she would like to retain, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be dealt. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.
Normally, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that discerning bettors are agile enough to select the most beneficial game every instance.
After the first round has completed, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the player a chance to increase their wins, in which situation a further round is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
