Video Poker is a beloved game that usually will be wagered on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, using an Internet connection. The game rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the greatest combination of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the involvement with other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will then be "handed out" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and gamblers should now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.
After the enthusiast has decided on which cards she would like to retain, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards are needed they will be dealt. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.
Normally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable enthusiasts are agile enough to pick the most profitable ones every time.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the player an opportunity to double their wins, in which case a further hand is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
